Multiplexing

Using cartesian microarrays to detect genetic mutations quickly becomes unwieldy. Each sensor element is capable of detecting one mutation. 29 unique sensors are required to detect 29 mutations in Region 5 of the p53 gene. With multiplexing, the information density is increased dramatically. Only a total of 8 MUFFINS including control elements are required. See the demo below.
